![]() photo:david lindley walking across the grand savannah in venzeuela, we came across this plane in the long grass; once upon a time there had been an airstrip in the grass thereabouts but now there was simply a hut and this wreck. apparently the plane had missed the strip and crash landed and the decision was made that it would be too expensive to be recovered so it was just left there to rot. over the years the locals have canibalised it for their needs: the seat look very good in someone's front room and the oil tanks have become water butts for the nearby hut. i was hoping for the indiana jones kind of wreck with a skeleton with snake slithering out of an eye socket but as usual the reality was far more mundane! | |
