kimmeridge bay 2

clavell's tower on hen cliff was built in 1831 by the reverend john richards who, after inheriting the swemdmore estate, assumed the name clavell. when i first saw it i assumed that it was built as a lookout as part of the coastal defences but in fact it was simply built as a rich man's summerhouse. unfortunately now it has fallen into disrepair; a haven for vandals and graffiti artists (a loose term here)!
