![]() photo: david lindley the back alleys of marrakech were a warren of small workshops, all stacked floor to ceiling with the components necesary for the production of every saleable commodity imaginable. i had thought that items for sale in the souk would be mass produced in a factory somewhere nearby, but the truth is that the items on sale were, to a great extent, still hand produced in places such as these. in fact so full was the workshop here that the workers were forced out into the thouroughfare; you can see though from the concentration on their faces though that the outside world passed by unheeded. perhaps also, as in ages past in the west, they believe that young, nimble fingers create the best work. | |
