 photo: david lindley the butchers stalls notwithstanding; i felt all of the displays in the shops and stalls of the souk were about one thing: abundance. you could not have a stall selling carpets without thousands of them being on display; shoes without there being more on sale than you could shake a stick at; pastries, spices, lanterns, olives, mint, all there and all in massive quantities, the abundance blows your mind and it almost becomes impossible to process it all. perhaps that's the idea, to dazzle a prospective customer into the purchase. | |
