 photo: sue lindley berliner dom this is the reflection of berliner dom - the cathedral - in one of the windows of the palast der republik. the latter is proof, if proof were needed, of the complete victory of the west over communist europe: once the home of the parliament of the gdr, and also the home to a theatre, sports hall and restaurants, it closed in 1990 and is now in the process of being torn down. i'm sure it'll be replaced with some appropriate glass and steel monument to cpitalism. | |
