plantation

there are two explanations for the trees (eucalyptus, i think) that are grown commonly amongst the tree plantations:

1. they provide shade for the tea pickers at work
2. their root system ties in the soil on the hills and ensures that there is no catastophic erosion during the monsoon

call me cynical, but i know which i think of these two reasons is the prime concern of the large tea producers!
