 photo: sue lindley so, a humungous thank you is due to the many people who commented, made suggestions or even sent me edited versions on how i could have improved yesterday's photo. i shall have great fun (and probably not a little frustration) trying out the various techniques mentioned; it should keep me out of sue's hair for a while! today, we're starting a little featurette of shots from the market in munnar. we love to explore markets abroad; in fact sue and i always try to ensure that our itinerary includes at least one such stop; it's always fascinating to see real people in their daily routine of shopping, in an environment that isn't antiseptic and controlled such as in tescos or wall-mart; where half the fun is seeing what's available on any given day and where the food is generally locally produced and seasonal. we love too the differences, and sometimes surprising similarities, in the items on sale: strange foods that perhaps you might have not even recognised as such unless it was being sold; familiar things that perhaps you only picked up in the supermarket two weeks earlier, now made exotic by the strange language on the packaging. | |
