![]() photo: sue lindley it's true that the people of kerala are probably the friendliest that we've ever came across, but not everyone can be happy and smiley all the time, we're all allowed a bad day. and that's what appealed about this fishmonger: he didn't look much like he ever really had a smile or a kind word and i wondered how he got on i the market; i mean would you buy fish from this man? the surly look, the fag hanging from his mouth; and then there was the fish-head. for the life of me i couldn't see why he had this fly-strewn putrid thing on a crate at his side. was it a sign that he sold fish? was it for the local wild cat population? i just hope and pray that he didn't intend to sell it to the poorest and most desperate - although judging by his expression.... | |
