the kurinji tea shop

we felt the kurinji tea shop warranted a bit more marketing, so here it is in all it's glory: starbucks, bow down before it! oh, and of course it gives us another opportunity to see my favorite portrait subject - still concealing who knows what behind the umbrella (has anyone noticed that he has somebody elses legs back there?).

indian tea is quite different from what we are familiar with in the west. here it is brewed with milk (no water i think), sugar and the various spices and served in very small, intensely flavoured, sweet, measures. 6 rupees for the spice tea works out at around 5 pence (9 cents US).

i just heard that harrods launched their christmas range for the year yesterday - it's august 9 and there's stil 137 shopping days till christmas - is that not a mad and fairly crass thing to do?
