![]() photo: david lindley a flood in 1341 created a huge natural port in between the arabian sea and the backwaters, kochi quickly grew up araound this port and is now spread across several promontories and islands around this port. there are three main sections today: mattancherry, ernakulam and fort cochin. there are a few bridges linking these areas but by far the simplest and most convenient way to travel is by the large network of inexpensive ferries. if you're lucky, as we were, when you cross the water you may see porpoises playing in the water. | |
