 photo: david lindley well, we seem to have found a few people most interested in the workings of an asian toilet - though truth be told they're obviously found like this in most parts of the world (even in some brand new sparkling chrome and steel french public toilets of late) not just in asia. as i mentioned; i simply can't use them, but sue can - in fact western women seem to find them relatively easy as a rule (i suspect they learn during times of sudden emergencies in woods, etc, where men have a singular advantage), but to men these loos seem places of pure horror! how do you squat? what do you hold on to? wont it just go everywhere? i shudder at the very thought! every year i promise to practice the art of the squat, to build up those muscles necessary in the delicate balance; every year i leave it too late, to rue the fact of my laziness when i first open the toilet door and see the ground level horror within. | |
