![]() photo: david lindley finally some signal is given and the men spring into action; the massive nets and coils of rope are loaded onto the boat and the arduous task of dragging it into the surf begins. a damp and dead weight, it takes some moving from where it has settled into the sand; it also has to compete with the strength of the surging waves that are intent on nothing else but pushing the boat back into shore. these are the guys who travel further out to sea for their catch: others trawl for mussels and crustaceans closer to shore using canoes that are little more than three logs lashed together; finally (and you can see a couple in the background) are the men who fish using hand drawn nets that are swam out from the shore, or dropped of from a boat such as this. | |
