 photo: david lindley before anyone states the obvious, we know that there is absolutely no artistic merit to this shot whatsoever!! after a hard morning watching the fishermen working to pull in their catch, there can be nothing better than to take the weight off your feet and have a nice cup of tea....well, a beer might be nice too, but it was election time and no-one was allowed to sell alcohol in the run up to the voting. however, in all the hotels and bars along kovalam beach a nudge and a wink system was in operation. you asked for a beer sotto voce and a few minutes later a young boy would go running off with a bag in hand, soon to return with said bag filled and suspiciously clinking; a while later the waiter would deliver - with a flourish - a tea-pot, cups and your (nicely chilled) tea!! ever since we returned from india, sue and i will now ask each other if we fancy a cup of tea, or a cup of tea when we are out and about. | |
