![]() photo: david lindley staple island was our first part of call and is notable for the vast quantity of puffins that live and breed there: apparently 35,000 nesting pairs were recorded in 1999! seen here are 'the pinnacles', a number of isolated rock stacks just off staple island, and a suitably remote and inaccessible home for the countless shags and guillemots that crowd their every surface. tomorrow, the birds! | |
