![]() photos: david lindley the first building works at dunstanburgh castle took place in the early 14th century under thomas, earl of lancaster, and the remains of the gatehouse built at this time can be seen in the two D-shaped towers either side of the arched entrance. the massively strong walls, which have withstood seige from both natural and human forces for nearly 700 years now, can clearly be seen in the second image taken from inside the right hand tower (as viewed from the front). | |
