pilgrims' way

photos: david lindley

there is an alternative route to the mainland from the island: at low tide it is possible to walk across the sands following an ancient route known as the 'pilgrims' way'. marked along the way with posts, it also has refuge boxes for those walkers careless enough not to have taken too much notice of the tide times, which are posted in the local papers and posted on notice boards all over the island.
