![]() photo: david lindley caye caulker is actually two islands today, hurricane hattie having literally cut a swathe through the place: today 'the split' is a popular place to swim and chill out in the best bar there - the lazy lizard. it's not perhaps the most salubrious bar around, spit and sawdust springs to mind (or maybe spit and sand), but it has a certain....rustic charm. it also sells a great lime green cocktail they call 'lizard juice'. sue and i visited the place our first day there at lunchtime, attracted by it's ambience and saw this very attractive drink being served: the offer is buy 4 get one free and, needless to say, we both had our free drinks by the end of the day...and more...before staggering off into the night. oh, the boat. it's moored adjacent to the bar and offers kultural (yes, that's right) tours of the island. we didn't go but we did see it weaving - rather unsteadily - around the waters one day. listening to: diamond smile ~ boomtown rats | |
