![]() photo: sue lindley the paving in the famous shell-shaped piazza del campo was laid as long ago as 1349; the tower shown here at the base of the shell is in torre del mangia from which you get a fabulous view of the city of siena. today the piazza is best known for its twice yearly horse-race, the palio. by the way, for some reason, expressions seems to have stopped notifying me of any comments that get posted here. so, thanks to those people who stop by and apologies if i don't get back to you too soon; i'll have to keep a closer eye on what's going on over here! | |
