 photo: david lindley this shot is of the ceiling of the piccolomini library found within the cathedral: the building of which began in 1492 with the purpose of housing the manuscript library of pope pius II. the frescos themselves (by an artist called pinturicchio) took from 1502 till 1507 to complete. | |
