red arrows, blue skies

one of the highlights of the air show is the annual appearance of the red arrows display team: since they were formed in 1965 they've flown around 4000 displays in 52 countries and are recognisable wherever they go. what i found interesting is that, with 40% of the raf on active duty at the moment, several of the pilots here may have recently returned from active duty in iraq and afghanistan and others could well be leaving the team to go out there.
