![]() photo: david lindley there are four types of dune found in namibia: transverse dunes ~ found close to the coast they lie perpendicular to the storng winds from the south multi-cycle dunes ~ such as these found around sossusvlei, formed by winds of equal strength blowing from all directions parallel linear dunes ~ 100m high dunes running north to south caused by strong south and east winds barchans ~ the most mobile dunes most visible in kolmanskop where they are gradually burying this deserted town | |
