deadvlei i

photo: david lindley

deadvlei lies several kilometers away across the desert from the route of the tsauchab river; it is an old pan that has not had any regular water since the old river changed its' course hundreds of years ago. now all that remains are the skeletons of old acacia trees; preserved so well for more than 500 years by the lack of moisture in the air.

i just noticed that we passed the 700 posts mark yesterday; how time flies when you're having fun!
