![]() photo: david lindley the trip notes said that whilst they could guarantee an adventurous holiday they could also guarantee it would be extremely uncomfortable at times; they weren't lying on either point! we went in the rainy season (all the better to see angel falls) and with the rain came bugs: big bugs, little bugs, millions of bloody bugs! allied to the bugs was the heat and lack of air conditioning, consequence? complete lack of sleep! venezuela though is one of those countries best seen from the perspective of time rather than the physical distance, now those discomforts are all forgotten and we can dwell on the fantastic aspects of the trip - the waterfalls, the jungles, the flight over angel falls, the amazing tepuis and of course the wonderful andes. the andes provided a cool respite from the oppressive heat of the lowlands, and also some beautiful views. this photo was taken in a tiny hamlet where we stopped to visit a condor sanctuary. a very wierd experience here; we were taken into a little house to watch a video about the condors and were offered refreshments: rice pudding and jelly! we felt like we were five year olds back at school again. | |
