![]() photo: david lindley the llanos is a vast flatlands area, mostly very boring to drive through although there are a few large patches of protected wetlands home to a vast array of animals; no-one lives there and mostly it is divided up into small-european country sized ranches. as you drive along though, looking at more of nothing very much, suddenly you see what appear to be huge sand dunes shimmering in the heat haze. mirage is your first thought, but as you get closer there they are in all their pristine glory: sand dunes - not desert - surrounded by moats of water and lush green vegetation. weird and wonderful. | |
