river

the orinoco is the 8th longest river in the world, a whopping 2200km, and only one solitary bridge! columbia was over there on the other side but may as well have been on a different planet as far as it was accessible to us; the river during the rainy season being far faster and broader than at other times of the year. apparently you can normally walk over to the island you can see here, now only accessible by boat. we saw a familly fishing from the tree one day, now cut off from their local neighbours.
