berchules

we've recently returned from las alpujarras, a small mountainous region only an hour away from Malaga but a whole world away from the costa of sombreros, wicker donkeys and overheated red faces. we went to chill and we did.

this is spain of dreams, where the tapas are free and the sun shines; olives, almonds and figs hang from the trees, and the pace of life is far, far slower than you're used to.

we stayed here and we didn't want to come back.

berchules is one of those typical whitewashed villages where you're certain that there must be life but just don't know where (and what the inhabitants actually do all day). the only life seems to be in the old boys in the bar playing dominos and keeping out of the way of their formidable wives.
